A cold wind blows through the city As I make my way to the church The drunks the druggies and the wayward girls Wander in their cold dark world And I remember days when I was wild and free Well at least I thought I was I didn’t know satan had plans for me To crush me into dust But I pray for some songs to play To give honor to Jesus Name And although I might change He always stays the same People come and some I may not know But he knows all their names And the little kids laugh and run and play Playin little kid games
And now I’m free No more shame Gods own Son Took the blame See His hands See His side See His arms Open wide
We cheer and receive the offering Oh what a wondrous sight to see As people dance and sing and pay their tithe Their hearts are filled with glee But then Jesus takes my mind back To the place I used to be And I realize those street folks Are like I used to be And yesterday we hit the streets Just to share what God has done And we fed some families Bar B Q Cooked by my brother Tom We shared the gospel with the lost Seems like there’s more and more and more God help us do our best To continue in this war
